Biography
Travelling a lot as a child, experimenting different cultures and climates, I implemented three essential skills to my professional practice as a commercial photographer, curiosity, reactivity and adaptability.
Through my intensive studies at the Maine Photographic Workshops (now Rockport College) I implemented Ansel Adam’s « zone system : A method to creatively visualize the scene or object to be photographed and produce a photograph that matches and expresses that visualization ».
With rigor and accuracy, from shooting to printing, I leave nothing to chance.
Today, following 30 years in advertising as a still life photographer based in Paris, I enjoy my life as an artist, freed from the constraints of documenting reality, I now feel the need to freeze the impermanence of things. I experiment time transitions, where spaces connect and interact, to showcase parallel worlds we are passing through.
Artistic Intention
As a still life photographer, my golden thread is the energy within. I capture singular light impressions which disclose this blurred zone between the object, its reflection and what it represents.
I explore all the spaces in which the objective reality reveals a secret, which might not appear at first sight.
Above all, it is the vibration fields of something, a lightning, an impulse, an emotion which urge me to press the shutter.
Tuned up to this frequency in my now virtual darkroom, I dust my photographic file with the tip of my stylus bringing out the infinitely small, the infinitely visible, “the one visible “- literally - « l’un visible » as defined by Jacques Lacan.
I track the evanescent manifestations of the internal reality of my subjects, focusing to render this perceptive intensity.
My work aims at bringing out the " the one visible ", the universe split up into a myriad of beings and different objects, which are nevertheless all connected within the same material: life.
Artist's Statement
My photography is a subjective view on reality not an objective presentation of it.
A transformation of reality to a parallel universe where everything is possible.
I look for the exceptional into the ordinary and I know how to make it visible.
Grace, beauty and joy always pair with the hardships of life. I am passionate and choose beauty to serve my higher energy in creating objects out of my visual and emotional fascination.
Brightness, color and light give my images a positive and optimistic character.
I control chaos around me through careful and balanced compositions and through careful and precise post-processing that helps me express my thoughts and feelings.
My work is open to more than one interpretation which leaves the viewer free to use its imagination, experience, and memory to build content and connect with it.
In all my images there is motion and transformation in progress supporting the concept of temporality and eternal change.
